Smart Packing Tips for a Smoother Move

Smart Packing Tips for a Stress-Free Storage Experience

📦 Keep Your Belongings Safe, Organized, and Easy to Access

At County Line Storage, we want your move to be as smooth as possible. Whether you’re storing household goods, seasonal items, or business inventory, how you pack makes all the difference. Use these practical tips to protect your belongings, maximize space, and stay organized throughout the process.

1. Use Quality Packing Supplies

Invest in sturdy boxes, bubble wrap, packing paper, and strong tape. Avoid used grocery boxes or flimsy containers — they can collapse over time and damage your items. Don’t forget labels and markers!

2. Label Everything Clearly

Label each box on multiple sides with its contents and the room it belongs to. This saves time when you’re searching for something later — especially if you’re storing for several months.

3. Pack by Weight and Fragility

  • Place heavier items like books at the bottom of boxes.

  • Wrap fragile items individually and fill empty spaces with packing paper or towels to avoid shifting.

  • Don’t overload boxes — it makes lifting and stacking more difficult.

4. Disassemble Large Items

Take apart bed frames, tables, and other bulky furniture to save space. Keep screws and hardware in labeled plastic bags and tape them to the item or store them in a clearly marked box.

5. Store Smart: Think Vertical & Leave Aisles

  • Stack boxes from heaviest to lightest, placing the sturdiest at the bottom.

  • Use the full height of your unit by stacking vertically.

  • Leave a small walking path so you can access boxes in the back without having to unpack everything.

6. Protect What Matters Most

Use climate-controlled storage for sensitive items like electronics, wood furniture, photos, documents, and clothing. It helps prevent damage from humidity, heat, and cold — especially in Arkansas weather.

7. Create an Essentials Box

Keep a separate, clearly labeled box for items you’ll need access to while your things are in storage (e.g., important documents, tools, seasonal items, or chargers).

8. Avoid Storing Hazardous or Prohibited Items

Do not pack flammable materials, explosives, chemicals, perishable food, or anything living. Check with our team if you’re unsure about any item.
